Ready for the 4th?

Well, there are lots of visitors roaming the streets of Friday Harbor, and it is shaping up to be a glorious 4th. My Band, the Friday Harbor Old School Jazzers, is ready to hop onto the Lions Club float on Sunday morning and play in the parade, which starts at 10:30. Our son and family get here on the Victoria Clipper tomorrow, and our 2 granddaughters will keep us hopping until Monday. Maybe we will go out to Whale watch park on the west side of the island and look for a sighting of the 2 baby Orcas which are said to be cruising with their families in our waters this Summer. The weather is supposed to be in the 80s next week. Fairly predictably, our warm season starts after the 4th of July.

Blog day No. 3

Well, there is lots to this blog world that I don't understand. I sent out the canned invitation to my family members to read and respond to my blog, but the blog address wasn't clickable, plus it had about 25 letters and numbers suffixed to it. Who would want to enter that maze of characters?

Meanwhile I'm reading lots of blogs by others in the google blogspot.com system. You people are really good at making beautiful graphics, photos, and information. How does a reader respond to the blog? Do they have to be a "friend" with a google account? Can anyone respond in the "comment" section?

Oh boy, do I have a lot to learn!

My first Post

Hi. I'm Tom Starr and this is my first day with my new blog. My goal is to assist seniors in relocating/retiring to the beautiful San Juan Islands. I think I can be helpful in answering questions about affordability, housing, medical facilities, recreation, the arts, ferries, and other aspects of island living.
